We want curlies of all types and textures to embrace their gorgeous natural curls. For Type 4 curls and coils or afro-textured hair, it can be a little tricky to know where to start, so we’ve created this handy Only Curls guide to help you along the way.
Hydrated Curls & Coils
Keeping Type 4 curls well-moisturised is key. Our Cleansing Co-Wash is one of our favourites to incorporate in your wash day routine and is loved by curlies whose hair craves more moisture. Co-wash is a hybrid between a cleanser and a conditioner which gently removes build-up while hydrating your hair, leaving you with frizz-free, silky and shiny curls!
The Co-Wash also works well as a leave-in conditioner instead of the Hydrating Creme, if you find your curls need more moisture when styling.
Dry or Damaged Curls? Try Deep Conditioning!
For an extra moisture boost, try our nourishing Deep Hydration Mask as a weekly or bi-weekly treatment. This strengthening and conditioning mask contains luscious moisturising ingredients as well as protein to reduce damage, making it the perfect protein-moisture balance for healthier and shinier curls. Some curlies with thicker hair like to use this as their regular conditioner too!
To help the hair mask be fully absorbed into your hair, use one of our beautiful shower caps when you leave the mask on. The shower cap and Deep Hydration Hair Mask are the perfect pair for hydrated curls.
Styling Type 4 Curls
Applying our Hydrating Curl Creme to soaking wet curls works as a fab leave-in styler. The super nourishing and hydrating formula will help to smooth your curls and reduce frizz. The special blend of Shea Butter, Marula Oil and Aloe naturally replenishes moisture and helps to restore curls.
Our long-lasting Mega Hold Gel will keep your curls defined and in place all day. This strong-hold gel maximises definition, while locking in moisture and reducing frizz. The cast can be gently scrunched out when your curls are fully dry. For extra frizz control, try adding a bit more gel when your hair is 80% dry.
Our Curl Conditioner has been found to work well as a leave-in conditioner too. Curls that need a bit more moisture enjoy the extra hydration this gives over the Hydrating Curl Creme. For really thirsty curls, why not try both for the extra hydrating benefits?
Refresh and finish off your curls with our Nourishing Hair Oil. Locking in the moisture and smoothing frizz, this oil will leave your curls shining all day! This multi-use oil is also fab for a deep scalp massage paired with one of our scalp massagers. You can even mix a little oil with the Hydrating Creme for added moisture. For all the amazing uses of the oil, check out our Ultimate Hair Oil Guide.
Curl Accessories
Apart from our gorgeous hair products, we also have a fab range of accessories to enhance your curls even more. Our Microfibre Towel is one item you shouldn’t be without! The soft microfibre fabric is super gentle on curls to tame frizz and speed up drying time. Gently scrunching with the Microfibre Towel on wash day also helps to reform and define the curls. What’s not to love?!
Another handy curl tool is our Misting Bottle. It’s perfect to use when refreshing to dampen hair. Do you like to style your curls on soaking wet hair on wash day? Then use our Misting Bottle to add more water as you style, and keep the hair hydrated.
How can you protect your curls overnight? We have the answer with our silk pillowcases and satin sleep turbans. Using one or both of these at night will reduce frizz and tangles, as well as preserving those beautiful curls and coils. You can then do a quick refresh in the morning if needed.
Little Curls
Do you need help with your children’s curls too? Check out our Little Curls collection for all their curly needs. You can find out more about these products in our Little Curls FAQs.
